It’s been a bad promotional week for the Cleveland Cavaliers PR Department. First there was the “hype video” that was shown in Quicken Loan Arena showing a Cavs Fan throwing his girlfriend who was wearing a Bulls shirt, a Lebron James Headband 30 for 30, and now this.
The team planned to “show appreciation” to Kevin Love’s shoulder injury by giving out 20,000 arm slings to fans. Somebody in the PR department finally had some common sense and realized that probably wasn’t a good idea and cancelled the promotion. Now the team has 20,000 extra arm slings lying around.
You have to wonder who actually thought this was a good idea, and how Kevin Love will respond to his team basically making fun of his injury, considering he can opt out of his contract this year. Plus let’s also remember, it hasn’t been cupcakes and rainbows in the Cleveland locker room this year.
In Houston, fans wear fake beards for James Harden, in New Orleans they wear fake unibrows for Anthony Davis, but this is different: It’s an injury!
Kevin Love may or may not be back with the Cavs next year, but I can guarantee you this, half of the Cavs PR department won’t be.
