It’s hard to believe that J.R. Smith is yet to sign a contract with a team so far this offseason, so he remains one of the best players still available. It appears he is wiling to wait for the right opportunity both financially and for his own basketball opportunities.
The Philadelphia 76ers had shown some interested in Smith, but they seem to have moved on as he continues to wait to find the best opportunity. With Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor in the frontcourt, Philly could surprise a lot of teams next season, but Smith may not be the best option for a team who may still want to lose games at times.
Cleveland would obviously still like to have Smith back to back up Iman Shumpert, but because of that long-term contract, they are not going to overpay.
Sixers expressed interest in free agent guard JR Smith, but that’s dwindled. Cavs want to re-sign Smith, letting market determine his value.

Philly should probably stay away because we all saw what happened with Smith in New York at the beginning of last season. Cleveland would not be heart-broken if a break up occurred, but they would need to find another player to make a lot of noise off the bench.
