I’m seeing some NBA prospects talk about where they would hope to play and say “I would love to stay in my state and play professionally”.
Now if I had the opportunity to be drafted by the team I most associate myself to I would love to go there, of course. But I wouldn’t say it publicly, especially if I’m Cat Barber, formerly of NC State who is most likely going to be a second round pick. It turns out that he enjoyed being in NC State and in an interview with the Charlotte Observer, he’d love to be drafted by the Charlotte Hornets.
“I know it a lot (about them). I came to the last regular-season game,” Barber said. “I’d love to come in and play behind Kemba Walker.”
Barber believes he’ll make a career in the NBA via his explosiveness and offensive creativity.
“My quickness, my speed, the way I get into the lane. Get to the foul line, get to the pull-up,” Barber said of his strengths. “I’ve always been an energizing guy.”
Now this reminds me of Marquese Chriss who said he’d love to stay in home, in Sacramento. Chriss has a good chance of that being a top 10 pick in some mock drafts, Cat Barber on the other hand could be drafted anywhere in the second round, maybe late in the first round.
We will see if Barber gets what he hopes.
