Amazing!
In celebration of Martin Luther King Day, the cast of the MLK biopic, Selma gathered together in Selma, Alabama to reenact the march to Edmund Pettus Bridge…50 years after Dr. King led the civil rights march in 1965.
Oprah Winfrey was joined by hundreds including Selma-director, Ava DuVernay, actor David Oyelowo [he played Martin Luther King Jr., in the film], John Legend, Common and many more.
Regarding the march, Oprah said:
“Look at what they were able to do with so little, and look at how we now have so much!”
She added:
“If they could do that, imagine what now can be accomplished with the opportunity through social media and connection, the opportunity through understanding that absolutely we are more alike than we are different!”
At the end of the march, Common and Legend took the stage on the Pettus Bridge to perform their award winning song, ‘Glory’, alongside the Tuskegee University Gospel Choir.
