Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks are coming off a loss to the Miami Heat after a strong performance in the return of their super star. He had 31 points in his return but it wasn’t enough.
The Knicks next game is against the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets coming to Brooklyn sparked up an impromptu ‘rivalry’ between the cross town rivals. The Knicks are located at MSG in Manhattan and the Nets are playing out of Brooklyn at the Barclays Center. There hasn’t been any outstanding games that make this an interesting rivalry, nothing like what the Knicks have with the Celtics, Heat or Cavaliers, as of recent.
Check out what Melo had to say to Adam Zagoria of SNY.TV
“It’s not a rivalry yet,” Anthony said Monday at practice, one day after going for 31 points in an 86-79 loss to Miami. “Although it’s two teams in New York, we both have our own situations. We’re not worried about what Brooklyn is doing. We’re worrying about ourselves. We want to win, so we’re coming out tomorrow to try to win this basketball game. To answer your question [about rivalries], yes I do get pumped up to play Brooklyn, to play Cleveland, to play everybody we play.”
“I think for us, I only could focus on what we’re trying to do and we’re trying to win basketball games,” Anthony said. “We’re trying to figure out the type of team we want to be. Figure out our identity and we can’t really worry about what Brooklyn is doing over there, so tomorrow is a new opportunity for us to get out there and play and try to enjoy the game again and try to win.”
Now this may spark up something new in New York.
