It has been a terrible year for The New York Knicks and it looks to only get worse with the news of Carmelo Anthony shutting it down for the rest of the season with the lingering knee injury which he tweaked once again in the loss to The Miami Heat this week. Anthony still plans to play in this weekends All Star game according to ESPN’s Marc Stein even if it is for a few minutes. Anthony as of late has tried to play through the injury and has not looked like himself what so ever shooting 36% from the field in his last 3 games.
Anthony appeared in 40 games this season after re-signing with The Knicks this off season. I give Anthony all the credit in the world he’s tried to fight through the nagging injury which he just can’t shake off after sitting out 11 games. With that being said The Knicks are 10-41 this season and it’s going to get a lot tougher for this team with talks of Amare Stoudemire being bought out and Anthony being shut down. The only exciting thing for Knicks fans to watch is the possibility of Cleanthony Early getting more minutes and the development of Tim Hardaway Jr. if he is not traded away.
Derek Fisher’s first season as Head Coach has been one nightmare after another for his sake I hope Jim Dolan is as understanding as Phil Jackson will be. The Knicks will be big sellers next week trying to clear as much cap space to make a run at some of the big free agents next off season.
