The New York Knicks, aren’t having their best season. Starting with a franchise worst record, and recently nothing has been going right for the Knicks. Carmelo might sit out an extended amount of time with back pain, and things just became worse with two Knicks players being involved in an altercation during Dec 2nd game vs. the Brooklyn Nets.
According to Chris Broussard of ESPN.com:
Anthony, according to sources, then used another expletive in telling Hardaway he was going to beat him up when they got into the locker room after the game. …
“Nobody’s taken a swing at anybody, but there’s a lot of arguing and cursing each other out after games,” one source said. …
Several Knicks, in addition to Hardaway, are at odds with Anthony and believe he’s not playing team basketball. Sources said players voiced their displeasure with Anthony this past weekend, telling him he shoots too much, doesn’t move or pass the ball, and only plays defense when he feels like it. …
“Guys are definitely frustrated,” one source said. “But some of it’s just basketball stuff that the players don’t like doing. When somebody’s demanding that you make a hard cut, you don’t like it because you have to work harder. When someone says it’s not okay to throw a bull—- pass, guys don’t like it.”
Team problems occur, especially when you are struggling to win. I agree that Carmelo could play a little bit more team basketball, but in Melo’s defence, what will that accomplish? The New York Knicks are not a team that gels together. You can’t have J.R Smith and Carmelo Anthony with Amar’e Stoudemire trying to run the triangle offence, which is pretty complicated for players who like to play one-on-one basketball. It just doesn’t work, and realistically everyone in the Knicks organization, including Derek Fisher, and Phil Jackson are to blame. It’s time for a change in New York, because with what’s going on here, nothing will be accomplished except numerous lottery picks.
