To end an already sad season, New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony will announce later today at practice that he will in fact be ‘shut down’ and sit for the rest of the season. Anthony managed to play until the All-Star game where he played host in New York and played 30 minutes in the game, so it’s oddly very fitting that things would play out this way. Melo is having his worst season since 2008-09 with the Denver Nuggets but, he has being dealing with knee pain for most of this season. That being said, Anthony should’ve sat out long before the All-Star weekend to have the surgery instead of prolonging the inevitable. It’s said that he’ll need three months to recover from surgery.
Anthony is on the first year of a five-year, $124 million contract.
