Carmelo Anthony To Meet With Lakers Thursday
In this week of free agent frenzy in the NBA, Carmelo Anthony is at the very forefront, set to meet with his desired teams throughout the week as he decides whether or not to remain with the New York Knicks. According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, Anthony will meet with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. The Knicks are said to be the frontrunner among Anthony’s active suitors, which also include the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, and Chicago Bulls.
The Lakers are looking to make a much-needed splash in free agency with $28 million in cap space, which could be more depending on their plans for Steve Nash. It’s still considered a long shot for the Lakers to land Anthony in free agency, but they got themselves a meeting and an opportunity to pitch, which is more than nothing.
