Let’s classify this one in, as a great ESPN anchor says, the ‘department of redundancy department’. New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, after the Knicks horrible Christmas Day loss to the Washington Wizards, might have finally realized how everyone feels in New York.
As reported by ESPN:
“The fans are dying, we’re dying. We’re out there, we’re not producing. We didn’t expect, I didn’t expect to be sitting at 5-26,” he said. “So as much as I feel for the fans, I feel for us going through it, too. I don’t expect nobody to feel sorry for us, I don’t expect nobody to feel sorry for me.”
Well, this might be exactly true. It’s not like Melo isn’t doing his part. He’s putting up pretty good numbers to this point in the season, he’s playing through some injuries and even some early season trade rumors involving his teammates.
But still, the Knicks are 5-26. More losses than the Philadelphia 76ers. The worst start in franchise history, for about a month now. They have lost 16 of their last 17 games and they are bottom 10 in offense and defense. I’m not sure if anyone on the Knicks even knows what shape the triangle is because the offense they run 85% of the time, doesn’t shape a triangle, it’s more of a circle, surrounding Carmelo Anthony.
Coming into it though, Melo knew. He knew this was going to be a struggle and he knew this wasn’t going to be easy. Good thing he has 4 more years after this season is over to see what direction his team is going.
