After weeks of being indecisive where to go. Many teams that could be a championship contender with him, grovelling just so he would go to them. After all that. He decides to go back to New York.
Sure it’s Carmelo’s hometown. Can’t knock him for that but with what Carmelo has recently said to ESPN NY I’m starting to think that Carmelo just might be a broken record in disguise.
I want to win. I don’t care about the money.
I believe Phil will do what he has to do to take care of that.I don’t think we’re that far away.
People use ‘rebuilding’ too loosely.
I’m sure Phil will do something positive. He already has by getting a point guard that can actually play in Jose Calderón. But Melo is 30. If this goes wrong, you can easily put Carmelo’s career next to likes of Allen Iverson, Karl Malone etc. As players that never really capped their career off properly.
It was stressful in the final days, one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make.
That’s fair enough. He has family. Can’t keep moving all the time. But I would’ve taken Chicago in a heartbeat. But that’s just me.
It’s a matter of me believing in the organization, believing in Phil.
I wanted to go somewhere where I can end my career.
He could’ve easily finished his career in Chicago but I’m grinding. I’m not a Chicago fan but it seemed like a no brainer to me.
It’s been a very stressful offseason for Carmelo, we all know that. He’s pretty much putting his legacy in the hands of Phil Jackson. If I had to put my career in somebody’s hands, Phil would be high on my list. Good luck Melo. You’re going to need it.
