When the lowly 10-42 New York Knicks took another loss last night at the hands of the Miami Heat, their star Carmelo Anthony shined in 32 minutes of play to score 26 points but his game was cut short due to a lingering knee issue.
Due to this injury, there has been long speculation if Carmelo Anthony would shut it down for the season and let the team play out the remainder of the year without him.
According to reports from Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal and Ethan J. Skolnick of Bleacher Report, he said after the game that he’s getting to the point, health-wise, where he needs to shut it down for the season to avoid further injury.
Melo, on if hes close to shutting it down for season: "Im not getting that pop or that bounce [anymore]. So Im getting close to that point."

Carmelo Anthony says he is getting closer to the point when he needs to shut it down. "I'm restricted."

And the game that is coming up, that would be the most important game in New York this season, the 2015 NBA All-Star Game, may also be in doubt for Anthony as well.
Melo said he will take it day-by-day (knee) & decide on playing in Orlando & All-Star game on Sunday. #Knicks

Carmelo needs to shut it down, get it over with. As great and skilled as he is, there is no way he can put a team on his back to climb up from the cellar dwellers of the NBA to the playoffs, not this far out.
Shut it down, Melo.
