New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony believe that Anthony, paired with Kristaps Porzingis and Robin Lopez form the best frontcourt in the Eastern Conference. Knicks president Phil Jackson agrees. From ESPN’s Ian Begley:
Both Phil Jackson and Carmelo Anthony believe that the Knicks have the best front court in the Eastern Conference. Jackson said as much in an interview Monday with WNBC. “In our meeting at the end of the season, Carmelo said, ‘really (the Knicks’ situation is) not that bad. I think we have the best front line guys in the game, in the Eastern Conference, in Robin (Lopez), myself and Kristaps (Porzingis),'” Jackson said. “And I have to agree with him. Yes, those are three real potent figures…. So we have some positions to fill , but not a lot. Not that many.” With the front court set, Jackson & Knicks will look to upgrade the backcourt this offseason via trade or free agency.
It’s true that Melo, Zinger, and RoLo are a strong frontcourt(also, they’re easily the best nicknamed frontcourt in the league, IMO). However, there are a lot of great frontcourts in the NBA. Now, most of the best are in the West: Thunder, Spurs, Jazz come to mind. As far as the East goes, the Knicks’ frontcourt is up there, and Jackson/Anthony may be right. However, I’d personally take LeBron James-Kevin Love-Tristan Thompson. The Knicks would be number two in the on my list, though.
Even if they aren’t they’re the second best, not the best(depending on your opinion) it is true that the Knicks have a great frontcourt. Time to work on the rest of the roster.
