New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has been in the NBA for a while now –he just finished his 13th season. So, it’s understandable that some would question how long he can be a high-level player in the league. Frank Isola of the New York Daily News asked him what he though on SiriusXM NBA Radio today:
Carmelo Anthony tells @FisolaNYDN that he thinks he can play 4-5 more years & wants it to be with the #Knicks –> https://t.co/3gEA7NvjZz
— SiriusXM NBA Radio (@SiriusXMNBA) April 28, 2016
If you can’t listen at the moment, here’s what was said:
Isola: Realistically now, because you got through the season –I think a lot of people were surprised by how many games you did play– how many seasons do you think now, at 31 you are, can you still play at a high level?
Anthony: I still would say another four or five, I still believe that.
Isola: And will that be in New York?
Anthony: I mean that’s the plan, that’s the goal. You don’t know what’s gonna happen in the future, but as of right now, I feel like I’ll be here.
Anthony has often cited his loyalty to the Knicks(sometimes as a negative thing). Now, he sounds a bit less confident about his future in New York. Still somewhat confident, but he doesn’t seem positive about his future.
This season for the Knicks, Anthony appeared(and started) in 72 games, averaging 21.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and a career-high 4.2 assists.
