Life isn’t fun for Carmelo Anthony at the moment. Back pain. Playing for a mediocre team. Is there a silver lining in sight?
Well after the Knicks’ loss to the Miami Heat, apparently the silver lining is there. But it’s very. Very. Far away. As Melo questions the conviction of the Knicks. The New York Post covers his concerns.
During the preseason, Anthony said he didn’t want to endure another season like last year, but it’s happening again.
“I’m going through it, but I can’t put that in my head right now,’’ Anthony said somberly. “It’s not a great feeling, not a good feeling. As far as losing and getting used to losing, that’s not something I’m accustomed to.’’“I went out there trying to not think about it,’’ Anthony said. “Did I feel it? Yeah. But not like I felt it in the last couple of days. It was just some tightness. I don’t know if it’s a spasm or not. It’s probably going to take a while to get it loosened up.
“I’m not on medication. If I can go, I’m going to go. That was my mindset. I’ve played with a torn shoulder and knees and ankles. I never felt no pain like that with my back, but I felt confident working out [Sunday].’’
That’s Carmelo talking about his injury troubles. Luckily he’s feeling better by the day. But the rest of the team. Their morale is getting worse by the day.
Anthony saluted Stoudemire for questioning the team’s desire. Stoudemire wondered if other teams want it more and called their record “unacceptable.’’
“He has his opinion,’’ Anthony said. “Sometimes we go out there and it’s like we don’t want to be out there. We’re not giving effort like we’re supposed to. As leader of the team, he had the right to step up to the plate.’’
If this team wants to succeed in the future. Everybody needs to be 110% committed.
This WILL NOT work if people aren’t trying. If your star and seasoned veteran are getting worried about the team’s effort. Something has got to be done. It’s like Amar’e said. It’s unacceptable.
