As the trade deadline passed, Carmelo Anthony had no clue what the New York Knicks plan was for the team. There many talks about whether or not the superstar would be traded to a team like the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Boston Celtics, or the Los Angeles Clippers, but Anthony ended up staying in New York. With the Knicks not making any moves at the deadline, Melo just doesn’t know what they management is doing, per Ian Begley of ESPN.
“No, not now. No, to be honest with you,” Anthony said late Thursday night. “I think they were kind of planning on the trade deadline, whether they were trying to make moves. I think that was one plan. Now they’ve got to get back to the drawing board and come up with another plan about the future of this team.”
One of the more talked about potential trades on deadline day was Derrick Rose for Ricky Rubio of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Knicks were said to be asking for more than just Rubio, but the Timberwolves wouldn’t oblige, rendering the negotiations useless. Courtney Lee and Kyle O’Quinn were also said to be on the market, but nothing materialized out of those talks, either.
The Knicks currently sit in the 12th seed in the East, behind teams such as the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks. They have lost their last five games, making them 1-9 in their last 10 games.
