Cardi B has been the star of the Super Bowl and she wasn’t even at the game. Earlier this week, all of social media had fun with a clip of her performing alongside New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft. Later in the week, Cardi was in the headlines again when we learned that she would star in a Pepsi ad alongside Steve Carell and Lil’ Jon. With all of that going on, many were still brought back to the fact that Cardi B would not be performing at the halftime show this year.
During a brief interview, Cardi B explained to her fans why she decided not to perform alongside Maroon 5 during Super Bowl LIII. Cardi explained that she felt an obligation not to perform because of Colin Kaepernick’s ongoing standoff with the NFL. Cardi stated, “I got to sacrifice a lot of money to perform. But there’s a man who sacrificed his job for us, so we got to stand behind him.”
Cardi B will be back on CBS next week as a part of the 61st Grammy Awards broadcast. In the meantime, check out Cardi B’s latest Pepsi ad with Steve Carell and Lil’ Jon.
