Cardi B may be a great example of an overnight sensation, but she’s no one-hit wonder. In fact, the outspoken rapper and Grammy Award nominee continues to turn heads — and raise eyebrows — with her bold fashion choices, effervescent personality, and social media bombshells.
It seems Cardi B is always making headlines for her unique style. Recently, her 3D-printed, two-piece Balenciaga outfit was all the rage on Instagram. While 3D printers are now being used for everything from the creation of concrete materials to medical components, this fashion-forward take on the designer label has a lot of her fans gagging (in a good way). Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia first created the garments that appeared on the runway by taking 3D scans of the models and tailoring the garments digitally, before they were ever printed. Once they were printed, they were then cast using a lightweight foam. The 3D printed fabrics bonded with the foam to make the final product. Similar 3D printing techniques have been employed by other well-known brands and indie designers, alike.
In general, Cardi B’s fashion choices tend to get a lot of attention. Her favorite brand, Fashion Nova, was actually Google’s number one top trending search for fashion companies in 2018. The brand stood alone in the top 10 as the most affordable and least luxurious, as the others included Givenchy, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, Dior, Alexander McQueen, and Moschino. It seems like Cardi B’s star power (along with that of the Kardashian clan) has had a major impact on the brand, which was relatively unheard of just a couple of years ago. And while the average woman now owns 30 outfits, Cardi’s collaborations with the brand have resulted in nearly instantaneous sell-outs — so her fans are clearly willing to spend some coin to look like she does.
But it’s not all good news for Cardi. The music artist recently announced on social media that she and husband Offset have broken up after just over a year of marriage. According to a recent study, infidelity was the leading cause of divorce, with 21.6% of respondents saying it ended their marriage. While the Offset cheating rumors have yet to be confirmed, Cardi’s intentions to divorce certainly have been.
For now, she’s focused on the couple’s daughter, Kulture — and Offset seems to be pining for Cardi on Twitter, on stage, and to anyone who will listen. Of course, that has caused users to go in on her soon-to-be ex. And while sources have said Cardi seems exhausted (and why shouldn’t she be?), the “Bodak Yellow” songstress seems determined to live her “Best Life.”
