The Oklahoma City Thunder are hearing some more bad news this offseason. In their annual blue vs. white team scrimmage, Thunder sophomore guard Cameron Payne suffered a foot fracture, on the same leg he suffered a similar injury to last year. Per the Thunder’s press release:
The Oklahoma City Thunder announced today that guard Cameron Payne suffered an acute fracture to his fifth metatarsal in Tuesday night’s Blue-White Scrimmage.
The 14th overall selection in the 2015 NBA Draft averaged 5.0 points, 1.9 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 57 games during his rookie season.
Payne will see his attending physician and additional specialists this week to determine the next course of action.
Although it was on the same leg as the first leg injury in Payne’s Rookie year, it doesn’t look like it’s the exact same injury. Thunder beat writer Erik Thorne adds:
Note: Payne’s acute fracture is an impact fracture. Separate from stress fracture Payne had during season, which was healed.

There is no update or timetable on when Payne will return to the team, but he has a ton of potential to be a good bench addition to Oklahoma. Hopefully he comes back sooner than later.
