Don’t you find it a little ironic that of all the surgeries that OKC Thunder’s resident cheerleader Cameron Payne could have had, he has foot surgery. You can’t make this stuff up!
But don’t worry, he will be ready for the 2016-17 regular season according to the Thunder, Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman has Payne possibly returning in time for training camp.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Cameron Payne underwent a successful procedure today to repair a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti.
If you’re wondering where you’ve heard the term ‘Jones Fracture’ is because Kevin Durant had the same injury a couple of years ago in the 2014-15 season. Now Durant had complications with his foot and took longer to recover but if Payne avoids the complications Kevin Durant had then he should be good for the regular season.
With Dion Waiters gone, Payne could potentially gain more minutes and spend less time on the bench. Maybe he could form highlights on the floor instead of only being seen hitting moves with Russell Westbrook.
