
One of the greatest wide receivers of all-time and quite possibly the best wide receiver in the last decade is deciding to step away from the game at age 30, right in the middle of his prime.
Calvin Johnson, the Detroit Lions all-time career leader in receiving yards and touchdowns, has elected to hang it up joining Peyton Manning and Marshawn Lynch as recent retirees.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who for the past nine seasons established himself as one of the greatest wide receivers in National Football League history, today announced his retirement from the NFL effective immediately.
Johnson also filed his retirement papers with the NFL today in advance of the new League year which begins at 4 p.m. ET Wednesday, March 9.
The Lions also announced, with respect to Johnson’s contract, that those “matters were settled to the satisfaction of the parties.”
‘Megatron’ will end his career as a six-time Pro Bowler, four-time All-Pro, the fastest receiver to reach 10,000 receiving yards, he hold the NFL single-season record for most receiving yards (1,964, 2012) and second most all time receiving yards in a game (329).
