The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the more successful franchises in NBA history and thus haven’t had to make as many trips to the NBA Draft Lottery as most teams have. However, that’s been changing as of late. The Lakers were in the lottery last year, and will be once again this time around. They will have the fourth-best chance at the first pick in the draft this year.
In past years, the Lakers have been represented by team owner Jeanie Buss and Lakers legend James Worthy in the lottery. This year, however, the team has decided to go a different direction. Per Fred Roggin of The Beast 980, head coach Byron Scott will represent the team.

The Lakers will hope that Scott will bring more luck than Worthy did last year, when the team earned the 7th pick in the draft despite being projected to pick 6th. There are higher stakes in play this time however, as the team will lose the pick to the 76ers if it falls out of the top 5.
The Lakers did a great job in the draft last year, selecting Kentucky standout Julius Randle in the lottery and snagging a diamond in the rough in Mizzou’s Jordan Clarkson in the second round.
L.A. will be looking to replicate last year’s success in the draft this June. They will have to hope that the presence of Byron Scott will bring good fortune. After all, losing a top-5 draft pick would be a huge blow to the team.
