The Los Angeles Lakers are a bit of a mess right now. With the team starting the season 0-4 and plenty of blame to go around, it seems that emotions may be boiling over within the team.
According to head coach Byron Scott, there was a “verbal altercation” between Lakers players on the bench during their loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. The argument occurred near the end of the game as the Lakers once again blew a double-digit lead en route to losing 120-109.
While Scott declined to name the players who were involved in the altercation (except for stating that Kobe Bryant was not involved) he did have an interesting take on the situation (via Mark Medina):
That’s good. They tell me that they care. I want to see more fight in our guys. We want to try to stop the bleeding as soon as possible.
While seeing some spirit from a team that has largely missed one seems like a good sign, it is highly doubtful that it will be the source of some sort of turn-around for the team. Between this, Byron Scott ripping the team, and a lack of understanding of the team’s main goals for the season, there are plenty of worries in Laker Land. And the issues do not seem like they will go away anytime soon.
