The Los Angeles Lakers are 0-2, who saw that coming? They blew a lead against the Minnesota Timberwolves, letting Ricky Rubio of all people to bang on them. And then they had such poor defence against the Sacramento Kings that they let Rajon Rondo drop an open three.
I repeat. They let RAJON RONDO drop a three on them. No wonder Byron Scott is publicly destroying the team he’s coaching.
“We just sucked,” Scott said of his team’s defense. “Simple as that.”
“I’ve never seen 80 points in the paint in a game,” Scott said.
“Defense is obviously a big concern,” Scott said. “Transition defense and lack of effort, also. We just didn’t come with a focus tonight for whatever reason at the start of the game.”
Does Scott have any answers as to why his defense failed again?
“I don’t. I wish I did,” he said. “If I did, I would solve it.“
They just need to improve everywhere. Both Rubio and Rondo took it to the Lakers which says that the Lakers guards need to sharpen up quickly. The T’Wolves and Kings aren’t exactly known for penetrating the paint but that’s exactly what their guards have done.
And where are the Lakers big men? Roy Hibbert where you at?
