Shutting down Kobe Bryant has been brought up on a few occasions, and they have been resting him on the second half of back-to-back games, no matter who they play.
Now, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times, Kobe might actually really be considered getting shut down.
Chances of Kobe shut down this season? Byron: "If we're nowhere near playoff contention in March…then we might discuss that."

Byron Soctt might have to recheck his standings in the Western Conference because we’re about half way through the season and the Lakers are currently no where near the playoffs.
In fact, after a loss last night to the Miami Heat, the Lakers are currently 11 games out of the 8 seed in the Western Conference.
Not to mention, the teams hovering in those 7-10 spots in the Western Conference include the San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder, so jumping 6 spots by March would be quite the interesting trip for the Lakers, especially considering the horrible shooting the Lakers have been facing recently and how much drama has been focused around losing in ‘Laker Land’, the Lakers might just have to wrap it up a little early.
