Oh joy. Byron Scott has good job security. That’s such great news for writers like me that just LOVE constantly writing about Byron Scott talking about the same subjects. Lakers, Kobe. Kobe, Lakers. It’s all the same and it’s doing my head in already. It’s not even 2016 yet.
Alright whine over, I’m over the news by Mark Medina of the LA Daily News that Mitch Kupchak and the Lakers front office are fine with having Scott for the remainder of the season.
But Byron Scott still has enough support from Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak and vice president of player personnel Jim Buss that he is expected to coach through the rest of the 2015-16 season, according to team sources familiar with the situation. With Scott signing a four-year, $17 million deal last summer, the Lakers plan to evaluate his future once the 2015-16 season ends, according to a team source.
The Lakers are not happy with the persistent losing, obviously. But Kupchak and Buss sympathize with Scott on handling what one team source called “a no-win situation.“
Ha! What great wordplay. They’re literally in a no-win situation. I mean what will firing the head coach do to this trainwreck? Zilch, that’s what. Might as well deal with it. The Lakers will deal with being garbage for another season and we’ll deal with Scott’s constant ‘Dear Diary’ entries via the LA Daily News and other media outlets.
