As soon as we saw Dwight Howard play with Kobe Bryant. Something was off. There wasn’t gelling of any kind. Even though there was tension between Kobe and Shaq they managed to gel on the court
Lakers coach Byron Scott has talked to ESPN.com, saying that Dwight Howard doesn’t have the drive everybody needs to win a title.
“My outside perspective is Kobe is a real serious guy and wants to win championships,” Scott, the Lakers’ first-year head coach, said after his team’s practice at their facility Monday. “I don’t know if Dwight is that serious about it. I know No. 24 is. I think that probably was the clash.“
This is a very juicy topic considering the Lakers are facing Houston in less than 24 hours.
Not sure if any of you remember what Kobe said on his differing philosophies with D12 last year. Lets recap.
“Dwight wanted to do it one way, which he felt was effective. I wanted to do it another way,” Bryant said last November.
And let’s clear something up. Dwight went to LA for a reason. He didn’t go there just because it’s the land of Purple and Gold. He genuinely wanted to be there despite his body language saying otherwise. At least that’s what a source says.
The source added: “These people who say Dwight couldn’t handle the pressure of Los Angeles … that’s nonsense. L.A. was everything Dwight wanted. To be celebrated. To be among stars. To be among women of this caliber. To live, basically, in one big reality TV show. This was a perfect setting for him.“
Just hearing all this is getting me so hyped for the new NBA Season and also this particular game.
ETA less than 23 hours.
