During his days as head coach in the NBA, Byron Scott saw plenty of ups and downs. While Scott came across success early on in his coaching career including two trips to the NBA Finals, he had a rough last few years at the helm for the Cleveland Cavaliers and finally with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Scott last coached for Los Angeles two seasons ago when he was replaced by current Lakers head coach Luke Walton. Scott went 38-126 in his two seasons as the Lakers head coach, an abysmal mark. Since his last season as a coach, Scott has joined ESPN as an analyst and in a recent interview with TMZ, the 56-year-old stated that he is enjoying life away from the sidelines and said he’s ‘had enough’ of coaching.
Scott also discussed recent Lakers top pick Lonzo Ball, calling him a good piece and a player capable of changing life in Los Angeles. Based off his recent comments, it’s clear Scott has no intent on making a coaching return anytime soon and is instead happy with life semi-away from the game. Look for Byron Scott to continue his career as an analyst instead of pursuing a return to the coaching realm.
