Well. The Chicago Bulls blew it, no other words for it, they had chances and they blew it like Wile E Coyote and dynamite. They have nobody else to blame, Cleveland beat them fair and square even with injuries and suspensions, the Bulls blew it. That last game was unwatchable and I’m not even a Bulls fan.
But that’s the way the cookie crumbles and we all now turn our attention to the real story. Tom Thibodeau, will he be gone? All year the arrow has pointed towards the door for Thibs. And of course he won’t say “I’m out” until it’s official but Marc Stein of ESPN.com has a source saying he knows it.
The story is the same no matter who you check with: Thibodeau and his front-office superiors John Paxson and Gar Forman, despite their public pronouncements to the contrary, are utterly done with each other.
As one source close to the situation puts it: “Thibs is gone. They know it and he knows it.“
Thibs knows it, the front office knows it, people living under rocks know it. But it won’t stop the players from supporting their coach. Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson have all thrown in their two cents.
“If it was up to me, he’d be back,” said Derrick Rose.
Added Joakim Noah: “I think Thibs is a hard worker who always had us prepared.”
Said Taj Gibson: “If you want to be coached and pushed, Thibs is the coach for you. If you don’t want to get better, this isn’t the team for you.”
Now I understand the support, for taking the team so far despite all the injuries through the years, nurturing the talent like Taj Gibson making him into a player who I think should be a starter in this league, he’s done a lot for Chicago. But he needs to go, for the good of both sides, I think they all need a change.
Personally I think Thibs should go to Orlando, I love what’s going on there. The potential is big, they have a possible big 3 in Vucevic, Payton and Oladipo along with a high Draft Pick this year. He’d be perfect for the job. Oh well you look here! KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune has New Orleans as his number 1 spot if he leaves Chicago.
Source says if Thibodeau coaching elsewhere next season, New Orleans most likely landing spot. Lot of opinions/candidates in Orlando.
