The Sporting News is reporting that the Chicago Bulls are making power forward Taj Gibson available for trades. Gibson’s name has been thrown around in trade talks through out this season, with the Raptors, Suns, Pistons, and Blazers being a few teams that have interest in the big man.
According to CBS Sports, Gibson has been unhappy this season with the Bulls. The team signed MVP candidate and All Star starter Pau Gasol in the offseason, and brought over Nikola Mirotic from Europe, a potential Rookie of the Year candidate.
Gibson signed a four-year/ $38 million deal in 2012 with Chicago. He still has two years and $17.4 million on that contract, which could an issue when trying to move him.
While Gibson maybe the fourth big man option for the Bulls behind Gasol, Mirotic, and Joakim Noah; his numbers are pretty much the same as his numbers from last season. The fifth year pro out of USC is averaging 11 points and seven rebounds a game in 28.5 minutes.
Gibson is 29, and could help contribute to a team who needs help in the front court.
Whether Gibson stays on the Bulls or is traded to another team, he is definitely a piece any team would love to have while making a playoff push.
