The Chicago Bulls threw their hat in the running yesterday in the Kevin Love sweepstakes, and now, according to Chris Sheridan of Sheridanhoops.com, the Bulls have made an offer to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Chicago Bulls have offered a package of Taj Gibson and rookies Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Kevin Love, a league source told SheridanHoops.com on Wednesday.
The package is extremely intriguing to the Timberwolves, but there is a catch — it cannot be completed for another 29 days after McDermott and Mirotic signed their rookie contracts Tuesday. NBA rules prohibit rookies from being traded within the first 30 days after they sign.
This is interesting due to the fact that the early reports said the Bulls were going to offer Taj Gibson, either Tony Snell or Jimmy Butler and other assets like a draft pick. Now, the Bulls are offering Taj Gibson, their first round draft pick in McDermott and Nikola Mirotic who just came from overseas.
The move frees up some of the log jam at power forward which was a concern from many. The Bulls adding Love is not exactly necessary though, without Love and the roster they have now, they are top contenders in the East, but it seems like the Bulls want to be the top contender in the entire NBA.
