Jimmy Butler is the heart and soul of the Chicago Bulls. When he’s healthy and performing well, the team thrives. Nevertheless, Chicago reportedly wants to explore their options this summer, and see what sort of return they could get for Butler. From Yahoo’s Chris Mannix:
“I’ve been hearing rumblings that there is legitimate interest in Chicago in potentially dealing Jimmy Butler this offseason.”
Butler, despite being one of the best two-way players in basketball, is not without his problems. Butler’s issues this season have included injuries, substandard play, reported chemistry issues, and complaints about head coach Fred Hoiberg.
Butler is a superstar, and obviously the Bulls would receive an immense amount of interest if they were to put him on the trading block. Two teams that will reportedly go after Butler this summer are the Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics.
Butler being traded is far from a certainty. These are just reports, and even if they are accurate, it’s highly unlikely that the Bulls give up Butler unless they’re getting loads of assets in return. Butler is a 26-year-old two-way superstar. Players so young and so impactful are scarce, and it would take a lot to pry him from the Bulls.
