While the Sacramento Kings have been trending the right way as of late, there is still some hesitancy concerning the future success of the team.
Sacramento is a team that will most likely end the season as a squad on the outside looking in when playoff time comes. They might have added some good pieces over the summer, most notably Rajon Rondo and Marco Belinelli, but the team is still not in contention for the playoffs.
So of course, as the Kings start to trend well and their top two players in Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins are creating a strong chemistry, there has to be some sort of trade rumors rumbling around.
Following from Michael Scotto of SheridanHoops.
Sacramento Kings All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins has drawn significant trade interest from the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls, league sources tell SheridanHoops.
Sacramento is listening, but the Kings are in a holding pattern and currently have no plans to make a deal despite sitting in 13th place in the 15-team Western Conference, the sources said.
The Kings would be foolish if they didn’t listen to offers for Boogie Cousins.
He’s caused problems with the team before and he has been a small issue with management but half of the time, he’s not the one to blame. The inconsistency with the front office has hurt him and the teams performance.
The team that makes the least amount of sense to get DeMarcus is Miami. Boogie and Bosh playing together, won’t work. They are too similar in styles of play and Bosh struggles to work with Hassan Whiteside, what makes anyone think he can work with boogie?
The Bulls have contracts that are similar in dollar amount to Cousins but in talent, the Kings would be taking a big demotion. They can offer a package involving Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson but then what does Sacramento do to score? It wouldn’t be pretty. A Bulls team running and gunning with Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, Pau Gasol and DeMarcus Cousins would be fun to watch and it would immediately catapult the Bulls as top contenders to take the Eastern Conference crown.
The Celtics deal make the most sense on both sides. Boston can send first round picks plus a package of Tyler Zeller, Jared Sullinger and Evan Turner to the Kings for DeMarcus and Boogie on the C’s could make Boston dangerous.
