The Buffalo Bills have managed to keep dangerous pass rusher Jerry Hughes. The new contract is worth $45 million over 5 years, 20 of which is guaranteed. After years of dealing with Calvin Pace, Rex Ryan was not going to let this premium passer rusher go. Buffalo Bills beat writer Vic Carucci first reported the story.

The former TCU Horned Frog has been with the team since 2013. The Indianapolis Colts selected Hughes in the 2nd round in the 2010 draft, then traded him three years later for middle linebacker Kelvin Sheppard. Let’s just say the Colts got the short end of the stick on this one. Hughes has been an impact player since joining Buffalo recording 10 sacks in 2013 and 2014. Last season Hughes was predominately a 4-3 defensive end in Jim Schwartz scheme. Now he will be tasked to repeat production as a 3-4 outside linebacker. After an offseason of already acquiring LeSean McCoy and Matt Cassel, The Bills are looking to improve upon their 7-9 record from last season.
