After the Sacramento Kings traded away All-Star center DeMarcus to next to nothing, most people would have deemed the Kings season as a lost one. While their record somewhat suggests that, the Kings have had their fair share of glimpses of what the future may be like and it’s been fun to watch.
That glimpse of hope was on display Sunday night as the Kings defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 97-96 at the Staples Center. After being down 18-points in the fourth quarter with 5 minutes remaining, the Clippers didn’t make a shot for the rest of the game. This allowed the Kings to go on a 20-3 run led by Buddy Hield who scored 11 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter.
For the Kings, this was a great come from behind win and showed the potential of how good their roster can be. As for the Clippers, this was a heart-wrenching loss right after dominating the Utah Jazz a game before this. So what led to the Clippers collapse? Kings guard Buddy Hield shared his thoughts on what he and his teammates noticed down the stretch.
Hield on the late game momentum shift: “We saw they started chirping with each other and we were able to see them collapse.”

Hield credits the Clippers chirping at each other as the reason the Kings got back into the game and said it was just a case of the Kings catching them in distress.
Hield: “When a team collapses, they’re in distress and and it’s easy when you can catch them slipping. We were able to catch them slipping.”
