Recently, Milwaukee Bucks center, Larry Sanders, was suspended 10 games for a failed drug test, testing positive for marijuana use.
There seems to be an occurring problem with athletes recently and their drugs. Players don’t seem to understand the concept of just putting it down while you get paid millions of dollars to play a sport you love.
While this isn’t the first time Sanders has problems with marijuana in the past, Sanders does vow to make this his last run-in and be sure to return to the NBA in full force. Even though there have been reports in the past that Sanders is over playing basketball all together.
Following from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Milwaukee Bucks center Larry Sanders plans to use his 10-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug program to deal with his core personal issues and learn to live without marijuana use, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Sanders wants to continue his basketball career and has been coming to the realization league rules won’t permit that unless he stops testing positive as part of the league’s drug program, sources said.
Now the Bucks have found success with out Sanders on the team and have survived without him. This might bring up some very plausible trade rumors about whether or not Sanders sticks around.
More from Wojnarowski.
Whether Sanders will play again in Milwaukee remains unclear. A new ownership group and new coach have found a measure of success without needing to depend on Sanders. The revitalized Bucks could seek to pursue a contract buyout with Sanders, but that’s a discussion that’s yet to take place with Sanders’ representatives.
Either way, Sanders on a team that could use him, whether it be the Bucks or not, would definitely be a step in the right direction. Sanders is a proven rim protector and a problem in the paint. The only negative being that he is in the first year of his new 4 year, $44 million deal so that contract might be hard to move.
