Kidd earned a historic coaching accolade as the Milwaukee Bucks clinched a playoff berth on Sunday.
With a 96-73 win against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, the Milwaukee Bucks secured their postseason berth as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks are 40-40 on the season after losing 67 games last season.
Jason Kidd was oddly hired as the Bucks head coach before this season. Kidd’s Bucks beat the team he was with last year, the Brooklyn Nets, to earn their playoff berth. In doing so, Kidd became the first NBA coach in history to take two different franchises to the playoffs in his first two years as a head coach.
The Bucks lost no. 2 overall pick Jabari Parker to an ACL injury and traded Brandon Knight when he was having a career-best season, but have remained feisty and competitive. Milwaukee is top ten in the league in assists (23.4) and scoring defense (97.3). Their length and youth are their assets but lack of experience and true scoring could make it difficult to make any real noise in the playoffs. Kidd said he wants to build something with the Bucks. Now is the time to start.
In the first round of the playoffs the Bucks will either face the Bulls or the Raptors.
