On Saturday, December 9, 2023, Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington knocked Jason Sanchez out in the second round of their scheduled ten-round bout. The featherweight prospect improved his professional record to 10-0 with six wins before the final bell.
The Brownsville, Brooklyn native has won three of his last four fights by stoppage. His 2023 campaign includes definitive wins against Juan Antonio Lopez, Brandon Chambers, Luis Porozo, Angel Contreras and Sanchez. Next year, boxing commentators like Timothy Bradley Jr. believe he will fight for a world title as early as next year. After ten consecutive wins, Carrington shares Bradley Jr.’s confidence in his ability. Recently, the New York-born fighter said he has what it takes to dethrone pound-for-pound talent Naoya Inoue.
“I believe I’m the best and people say Inoue is the best,” Carrington said.
“He’s one of the greatest right now. He’s gonna be a future Hall of Famer without a doubt but I know for sure I have what it takes to derail him.”
After an eventful year, he will have the opportunity to fight early next year as his promoter, Top Rank, has several events scheduled throughout the first quarter of 2024. Not to mention, Top Rank has an event scheduled for mid-February in his hometown of New York, New York.
