ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports, former Washington Redskins’ Quarterback Robert Griffin III, has reached an agreement with the Cleveland Browns on a two-year deal with $6.75 million guaranteed, but could be worth up to $22 million, to become the franchise’s 24th starting Quarterback since 1999.
RGIII will make $7.5M in 2016, including a $3.5M signing bonus. Same in 2017 if he’s on the team. Up to $3.5M more available in incentives

This 2-year deal for @RGIII can be worth up to $22M. Which underscores what we knew: Josh McCown will be playing for another team in 2016

After the Browns had shown extreme interest in Griffin over the past week and as the trade rumors between the Browns and the 49ers for Colin Kaepernick, it was certain that a deal between the Browns and Griffin was bound to get done.
Hue Jackson has a great track record working with Quarterback’s throughout his career as an offensive coordinator. Last season as the Bengals play caller, Andy Dalton showed tremendous improvement increasing his totals in all major passing categories. Jackson also had an excellent game plan for backup Quarterback A.J. McCarron when Dalton went down for a season ending thumb injury.
Griffin is coming off a season where he did not take one snap and did not dress for one game in the 2015 season. Although most general managers were hesitant on singing Griffin due to the major regressions that he showed over the 2013 and 2014 season.
Commissioner Roger Goodell is scheduling a meeting on whether to reinstate pro bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon, who was suspended for year by violating the substance abuse policy. Which is huge for the Browns due to the fact that Gordon and Griffin played together back at Baylor University in 2010 before the two were eventually drafted back in 2012. Which is a smart move for Head Coach Hue Jackson, who’s looking to help his new Quarterback chemistry with teammates.
Griffin posted the news of his signing on his twitter account.
