Sergio Rodriguez, 30, was last seen on the NBA scene in 2010 with the New York Knicks. Selected #27 overall by the Suns in 2006, Rodriguez was dealt to Portland in a draft night deal in exchange for cash considerations. He spent three seasons in Portland, and was later traded to the Kings in 2009.
Just months into his first season with Sacramento, he was once again traded. This time, packaged with Tracy McGrady in a deal to the Knicks in what would be his last NBA stop.
Since leaving the Knicks in 2010, Rodriguez has seen a great deal of success with Euroleague power Real Madrid. Known as an elite floor general and shooter, Rodriguez would be a coveted addition to teams in need of backcourt help this summer. Brooklyn, who sported a backcourt of Shane Larkin, Wayne Ellington, and others last season, could use the help.
Rodriguez played for the Spanish National Team in the 2012 London Olympics. Most recently, his Real Madrid team faced NBA competition in the Boston Celtics during a preseason game in October, 2015.
Sergio Rodriguez holds career averages of 4.3 points, and 2.9 assists in 13 minutes per game at the NBA level. Since he left in 2010, Rodriguez has taken his game to another level. Expect these numbers to be noticeably better if he decides to sign with an NBA team this summer.
