The Golden State Warriors aren’t the only ones looking to add versatile Andrei Kirilenko to their squads, the Brooklyn Nets and their billionaire Russian owner have the former Jazz forward in their sights as well. Kirilenko has been playing in Russia since the NBA lockout but has a clause in his three-year deal which allows him to leave for the NBA if he desires. Nets GM Billy King told New York radio that the franchise had been in contact with Kirilenko.
“He still can play,” King said of Kirilenko during the radio interview. “He would be a great piece to add to us, and give us more depth at the forward spot.”
The only obstacle to a potential deal is the fact that the Nets are already well over the salary cap, and have used their mid-level exception also, thus they can only offer Kirilenko the veterans minimum.
