The 25 year old rookie, Bojan Bogdanovic is slated to start for the Brooklyn Nets this off-season after the departure of Paul Pierce from the Nets to the Washington Wizards.
The New York Post reports the following after the Nets recent stint in China playing against the Sacramento Kings in preseason action.
Bojan Bogdanovic appears to have the fifth starting spot sewn up.
No, Bogdanovic didn’t play lights-out in Shanghai, but he did get the most minutes on the team, and for the second straight game was part of the starting lineup. Though he didn’t knock down any of his three open 3-pointers, the fact he got those wide-open looks is exactly why it seems likely he’s going to wind up there….
It will take Bogdanovic some time to get used to the NBA 3-point line, which is deeper than Europe’s, but the Nets are invested in him doing well. And with Alan Anderson spending the last week sidelined with an abdominal injury and Andrei Kirilenko better off as a utility option off the bench, Bogdanovic seems ticketed to be in the starting lineup on Oct. 29 in Boston
Bogdanovic has plenty of international experience and showed everyone in the World Cup of basketball he can shoot, from just about anywhere. He has yet to find his rhythm in the preseason with 40 percent shooting overall and 2-of-7 from three. Coach Lionel Hollins and the Nets apparently like what they see from
Now that first game will be interesting for sure for Brooklyn, with Kevin Garnett returning to Boston, but the lineup for the Nets should be good if healthy. Look for the lineup to be Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Bojan Bogdanovic, Kevin Garnett and Brook Lopez.
Bogdanovic may not be the best option for the Nets, Andrei Kirilenko is the experienced veteran but it seems like Kirilenko will be used off the bench mostly and Bogdanovic will be getting the nod to start kind of by default. Bogdanovic might not get a ton of touches with all those other scoring options to start, but if someone isn’t having a great night, Bogdanovic might be the young spark the Nets need.
