After getting injured. Again. Brook Lopez is apparently finally ready to start his season according to the New York Post.
“I feel great,” Lopez said before the Nets beat the Pistons, 102-90, inside the Palace of Auburn Hills. “I want to be back out there. I’m going to go through practice [Sunday] and hopefully play Monday.”
He may feel great now. But he said that months ago after recovering from his previous injury. I’m getting a sense of Deja Vu here. I think Brooklyn head coach Lionel Hollins is getting the exact same feelings.
“I can run on it, I can wash it, I can swim with it, all that stuff,” Lopez said with a sarcastic smirk, understandably frustrated after having to once again answer questions about his oft-injured right foot. “I’m thrilled. I don’t like sitting out, it’s probably my least favorite thing in the world. I want to be back out there with my guys, help them out and be there for my teammates.”
It must be aggravating to have a niggling injury. Constantly notifying you that you’re not 100%.
Brooklyn need Brook Lopez. Joe Johnson can’t do everything. They have overachieving role players but how long will that last. They need a number 1. And Brook Lopez is that number 1.
Nobody talk to me about Deron Williams.
