The Peyton Manning rumors have been flying ever since a report came to fruition that suggested he was almost dealt to the Houston Texans this past offseason. Having battled through serious cap issues the Broncos asked quarterback Peyton Manning to take a massive $10 million pay cut. If Manning would have failed to work with the team to restructure his deal he may have been on his way to Houston.
Manning did ultimately agree to $4 million dollar pay cut but that is a sizable gap from the reported $10 million. Denver area reporter Mike Kliss suggested that Manning was never going in threat of playing elsewhere, but then again we can never be sure what team president John Elway had initially planned if Manning failed to restructure his contract.
Broncos were never letting Peyton Manning go. Team initially asked for $10M paycut. That team settled for mere $4M sez he was never leaving

The 10 million pay cut may have been a starting point in negotiations but the fact that it was suggested means the Broncos were serious in moving in a different direction. 3rd year quarterback Brock Osweiler is simply a better fit for Gary Kubiak’s offense. With left tackle Ryan Clady already out for the season and guard Orlando Franklin signing with San Diego this offseason, it remains to be whether Peyton Manning can put together one more pro bowl season behind a sketchy offensive line.
