
Washington Commanders’ rookie running back Brian Robinson was taken to the hospital on Sunday after being shot multiple times. The incident happened Sunday afternoon in Washington D.C. and is currently believed to be an attempted robbery. According to a team spokesperson, he is stale and the injuries are considered “non-life-threatening”. Team personnel were with him at the hospital including team owners Dan and Tanya Snyder as well as Head Coach Ron Rivera. Metro Police in Washington D.C. are said to have two potential subjects and a firearm was recovered “a short distance” from where the incident happened.

Robinson remains hospitalized and is in stable condition, a source told ESPN.

The Washington Commanders selected Brian Robinson in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. In his four-year career with the Alabama Crimson Tide, the talented running back rushed the ball 545 times for 2,704 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also caught 52 passes for 446 yards and two touchdowns while with Alabama. Robinson has impressed at training camp this season and was even competing for the starting job with veteran running back Antonio Gibson. He was expected to have an important role this season and now that could be in doubt.

This is devastating news for a promising young running back and person. The extent of the injury to Brian Robinson will impact the beginning of his NFL career.
