Nearly 15 years have passed since the third and final season of Making The Band IV premiered on MTV. Led by Sean “Diddy” Combs, both Danity Kane and Day26 spent the season navigating the ups and downs of life on tour as their careers elevated to new heights. The season ultimately concluded with the release of Day26’s sophomore album, Forever In A Day. As the story goes, the group would slowly disband over the next few years and venture off into their own solo careers. Fortunately, time heals all.
Last year, Day26 reunited to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut with all of the original members, including Brian Angel. Not only did fans get treated to a tour with the original band, but they also dropped an album as well. Now, Brian Angel is returning to the studio to deliver his first album in five years. The first offering from the forthcoming project, #IAMBRIANANGEL, is a collaboration with Bay Area native Yung Lott. Produced by Diny Beats, the feel-good record finds Brian Angel spoiling his significant other with love and gifts. Working alongside Traxx Sanders and Ike Jenkins, Angel crafted a song that blends the love that existed on songs the world fell in love with like “In My Bed” and “Silly Love” with the more mature artist that was exhibited on a song like “Vegas.”
“I was in Atlanta working with my brothers on the new Day26 project when I heard Puff say R&B is dead. I understand where he’s coming from because love, vulnerability, and sensuality [don’t] seem to be at the epicenter of it these days, but I disagree. It’s alive and well,” he said about the first single from his upcoming album.
“I just think it’s time we reintroduce being in love back into the mainstream.”
