Brett Hundley is facing a lawsuit by his ex-wife, who is alleging several graphic details that left her with a broken ankle, among other injuries, according to TMZ.
For his part, Hundley is denying these charges.
The 26-year-old backup quarterback for the Cardinals has said that he and his lawyers plan to issue a countersuit.
The couple was married in July of 2016 and divorced two and a half years later.
Hundley’s ex-wife, who is not specifically named in the lawsuit, claims the quarterback abused her repeatedly before and during their time together. Hundley’s legal team issued a statement saying, in part, that the suit against their client is “100 percent false and a malicious effort at extortion,” TMZ reports.
Hundley’s ex-wife accused him of choking her and throwing her around the bedroom during an argument. She claims she suffered mental trauma and a broken ankle, plus a back injury when he pushed her through an open garage door and threw her on a pool table during another argument.

On the field, Hundley was seen by some as a high-upside prospect when he came out of UCLA and was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
In 2017, Hundley saw the most action of his career, filling in for an injured Aaron Rodgers for the Packers. He appeared in 11 games, starting nine, and completed 60.8 percent of his passes on 316 attempts for 1,836 yards. But his 9 touchdowns to 12 interceptions were a large part he fell out of favor in Green Bay.
In 2018, he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks but wasn’t activated for any games over the course of the season.
Since then, he’s served as a backup in Arizona. He appeared in three games in 2019, going 5 of 11 of 49 yards.
