When the Phoenix Suns made a deal at the trade deadline, it appeared they were trying to make a big push for the playoffs. They managed to completely manuever their roster to make it look completely different from their opening day squad.
They acquired Brandan Wright from the Boston Celtics in an early season deal, Goran Dragic was traded from the Suns to the Miami Heat and they made a deal to send Isaiah Thomas to the Celtics in a three-team trade that also saw them receive Brandon Knight from the Milwaukee Bucks.
Knight was supposed to be a great scoring option alongside their starting point guard Eric Bledsoe but instead, Knight has disappointed and he’s missed a huge chunk of the season due to an injury.
Now, the scoring guard will be shelved for the remainder of the Suns season which is yet to be determined when or how it will end.

Knight is not expected to play again this season for the Suns due to a heel bone bruise associated with the left ankle sprain that he suffered on March 9. Knight will not join the Suns on their four-game trip that starts with a Tuesday night game at Atlanta. When the Suns return, the only remaining game will be an April 14 season finale against the Los Angeles Clippers that Knight is not expected to play.
“It’s a tough situation,” Knight said. “If it feels better, we’ll see what happens but I’m in no rush to come back and make any worse. You can’t just keep pounding on a bruise and have it get better.”
Knight has only played 11 games for the Suns since they traded for him on deadline day. He averaged 13.4 points and 4.5 assists in 31.6 minutes per game with 35.7 percent shooting from the field and 31.3 percent shooting on 3-pointers.
Knight suffered the left ankle sprain when he drove into the lane and collided with Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green. He missed eight games before trying to return but aggravated the heel while trying to plant in transition, which has stemmed from his ankle injury.
It’s just a mess right now in Phoenix. They are all but eliminated from playoff contention with the season dwindling day to the end. They have 5 games remaining and they sit in the 10th seed in the Western Conference sitting 3 games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Knight being out for the rest of the season might just mean the end of the Suns season. The writing is on the wall, it’s time to get ready for the offseason in Phoenix.
