The only thing known about the unknown is that it’s many people’s greatest fear. Whether is a sudden move to an intimidating, unfamiliar city or the thought of having to switch careers deep into adulthood, the feeling of not knowing what’s next is enough to make a grown man cry, shake and tremble. Still, leaning into the unknown is necessary for personal growth. With his latest single, “September,” Brandon moved into the unknown and created art there even when it could feel uncomfortable.
“[‘September’] is about moving into the unknown. There can be so much uncertainty in relationships,” he said about his new track. “I think sometimes dwelling in uncertainty can make you go crazy. Trying to control the outcome of things you don’t have control over won’t get you anywhere, but all you can do is have hope that things don’t change, and if they do, they change for the better.”
“September” is the other half of the Riverside-raised musician’s two-track EP led by the single, “Right Back,” from his upcoming album, Before You Go. Steeped in ambient sound and omnipresent guitars, “September” is dripping in raw, unfiltered emotion and longing as he hopes to put off the inevitable end of a relationship. As he pushes off the inevitable, he finds himself wrestling with all of these feelings of isolation, loneliness and downright sadness. Still, Brandon’s distinct vocal tone and genuine lyrics leave every listener walk away wanting the best for this late 20s romantic.
The deeply relatable, yet solemn track sets the stage for Brandon’s next project, Before You Go, to drop on May 9, 2025. Until then, check out the official “September” video below.
