After stumbling out of the gates to the tune of an 0-4 record, the Denver Broncos were recently dealt a devastating blow on the injury front in regards to their young defensive end Bradley Chubb. Chubb injured his knee during Denver’s 26-24 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday and after undergoing further testing, the outlook is much grimmer than initially anticipated.
The Broncos announced on their Twitter that Chubb partially tore his ACL. Chubb is expected to miss the remainder of the 2019-20 NFL season and will require surgery.

What made the injury so surprising is the fact that Chubb was able to come back into the game after he was hurt. Unfortunately, this will be Chubb’s second ACL tear in that same left knee. Chubb fully ruptured his left ACL seven years ago in high school and will now undergo an operation for a partial tear.
Chubb was in his second season and was enjoying a solid first four games after a rookie campaign in which he registered 12 sacks.
Losing Bradley Chubb off the edge removes one of the Broncos’ strengths which is their ability to get after the quarterback. While their offense has struggled to get going and their defensive secondary is sometimes exploitable, their pass rush has remained constant. Having Chubb opposite one of the best to ever do it in Von Miller gave their defense a difficult dynamic to account for. Denver heads to LA for a division matchup against their rival Chargers in Week 5.
